The shows of 1980 and 1981 were the last Pink Floyd would do as a ‘4-man-band.’
By this time, their concerts had become a complete theatrical performance,
with the band themselves at the center.
Twenty-five-foot mechanically controlled marionettes,
hundreds of huge blocks to build a forty-foot wall
(ya GOTTA see the video — Whoa!)
plus all the band’s equipment, surround-sound P.A. speaker system,
and a huge road crew limited the performance locations to just a few cities.
Also according to reports, the band honestly did not want to do additional dates.
Selected locations were: Los Angeles; New York; Earl’s Court, London; Dortmund, West Germany;
and again at Earl’s Court.
No encore was played, only The Wall……
